The Open Space Alliance is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote public awareness and conservation of Open Space lands, and to educate the public about the natural, historic, cultural, educational, and recreational aspects of Open Space areas.

Join Dara Saville of Albuquerque Herbalism for this free gardening program.  We will explore beautiful native medicinal plants and common garden herbs that grow easily in our climate.  Our discussions will include ways to prepare your garden soil for cultivation, what to plant, how to harvest, and medicinal properties of each plant. The workshop will take place indoors.

Saturday, August 5
6:00pm – 8:00pm

In the second concert of our luminous Full Moon Series, Felix y Los Gatos brings their mix of Zydeco, Tex-Mex, Blues, and Gypsy/Jazz, to the Open Space Visitor Center.

Bring your own lawn chair, picnic blanket, and feast, or grab a bite from a fabulous local food truck and cool off with a frozen treats from Pop Fizz. With full moon-themed craft activity tables on the patio, there’s plenty of fun for the whole family! The event is rain or shine.


Sunday, August 6
1:00pm – 2:00pm and 2:15pm – 3:15pm

Marcy Pincus, Energy Arts Certified Instructor, leads each one-hour Qigong class.

Dragon and Tiger Medical Qigong (1:00pm – 2:00pm) is useful to help ease the pain of chronic illness. Improve health and energy in seven simple movements.

Marriage of Earth and Heaven Qigong (2:15pm – 3:15pm) is used in China to help heal neck, back, spine and joint problems. It is especially effective for helping to mitigate repetitive stress injury.

Class fee is a suggested $5.00 donation per class. A portion benefits the Open Space Alliance.

Are you a walker, hiker, equestrian or bicyclist who would like to have your observations assist in the overall protection of Open Space lands? Can you picture yourself spending a couple of hours each week at the Open Space Visitor Center, a gentle retreat within the city limits?

Become part of the community of Open Space and lend your talents in any number of ways from special events, to education, interpretation, gardening, publicity, trail maintenance and more.
