Welcome to the Open Space Alliance

The Open Space Alliance is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote public awareness and conservation of Open Space lands, and to educate the public about the natural, historic, cultural, educational, and recreational aspects of Open Space areas.

Vision: Residents and visitors will understand and value Albuquerque’s Open Space Program, and recognize the Open Space Alliance as an avenue for stewardship and engagement.

Mission: OSA will enhance the experiences of all users of Albuquerque Open Space lands by providing financial support for Open Space programs; by advocating for sustainability and expansion of Open Space programs; and by encouraging increased public involvement with and use of Open Space lands.

Kick off National Pollinator Week with this event for all ages. Join the Open Space Visitor Center, the Open Space Alliance, and Bee City USA for the Pollination Celebration.

This year we’re featuring live music with Lone Piñon and Long Drink of Water, a performance by Valley High School Baile Folklorico, workshops, art exhibits, vendors, pollinator-themed arts and craft activities and more!

The Open Space Visitor Center presents a collection of photography artwork of insects from the Bosque other Major Public Open Space areas. Dave Melius is an entomologist and avid photographer. The photos are not only beautiful, but also allow visitors to recognize and appreciate insects that reside in the city’s Open Spaces as well as in their own backyards, broadening the appreciation of visitors to the fauna of this region.

Come discover the mysteries of Chinese Qigong. You will learn about the 3000 year old qigong Taoist Water Method and why practicing qigong can help with general health, energy, aliveness, keeping the organs healthy, the joints flexible, and how it can help to diminish the effects of aging.
