Textile Journeys/Textures of Earth Memory
In their textile and photographic works, international artists Cornelia Gardella and Emelie Wilander, share their reflections on the life and traditions of people living in the Southwestern desert.
Elizabeth Buckley uses drawings and hand-woven French tapestries to share her insights into the ecosystems found in the high desert and along the Rio Grande River.
The Española Valley Fiber Arts Center presents an exhibit on the tradition of weaving Churro wool. The Navajo-Churro breed of Northern New Mexico is a special breed of sheep producing unique, beautiful fibers.
The exhibit runs through October 22nd, 2017.
An Unbroken Thread
A documentary about wool weaving in northern New Mexico. Focuses on the story of how wool from Navajo-Churro sheep ends up in the beautiful blankets typical of northern New Mexico weavers.
