WHY IT’S OUTSTANDING
The Golden Open Space is a 1,180-acre preserve consisting of a north mesa and a south mesa divided by a heavily eroded, multi-colored arroyo complex. Breathtaking views are available along the rim of the mesa overlooking the arroyo complex where colors include red, gray and yellow sandstone, limestone and mudstone. Keep your eyes open for the mysterious Los Duendes, trail-builidng creatures that local author Stephen Ausherman made famous in his book “60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Albuquerque”.
